The Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011
(POELA) improves community access to corporate environmental
information and strengthens companies' responses to pollution
incidents. It also has a significant impact on your
environmental obligations. From the 1st of July and
backdated to the 31st of March licensees under the POEO Act now
have to comply with the following changes:
- licensees who undertake monitoring as a result of a licence
condition need to publish monitoring data that relates to pollution
within 14 days of obtaining the data
- licensees who maintain a website make the monitoring data
available in a prominent position on the website
- licensees who do not maintain a website must provide a copy of
the monitoring data to any person who requests a copy of the data
at no charge
Monitor Pro clients are ready to comply with the new POEO Act
obligations already. With all your monitoring data validated,
organised, securely stored and managed in an auditable database
system, publishing the data is a simple next step. The regulations
require data be presented in a specific format containing certain
information about the licensee, the frequency of monitoring and
performance against licence conditions. MP-5 has the ability to
produce the required reports either manually or automatically, to
pdf or html ready for publishing.
If you are affected by the regulation changes, whether you are
already a user of MP-5 or don't currently have system at all then
don't hesitate to contact us. We can provide a variety of solutions
to suit large complex industrial operations to smaller operations
with only periodic data management requirements.
